Carroll Beats Sioux Falls for National Title

By Beacon Staff

SAVANNAH, Tenn. (AP) – Gabe Le ran for 116 yards and two touchdowns to help Carroll College beat defending champion Sioux Falls 17-9 on Saturday for the Montana school’s fifth NAIA title in the past six years.

After Sioux Falls (13-1) took a 6-3 lead on Ryan Lowmiller’s 1-yard run early in the second half in the game played in steady rain, Carroll (15-0) scored on back-to-back drives. Le put the Saints ahead with a 20-yard run and added a 1-yard touchdown run.

Both teams had a hard time holding on to the ball because of the wet conditions. Carroll fumbled six times, losing the ball three times, while Sioux Falls lost two of its three fumbles.

Marcus Miller kicked a 25-yard field goal in the first quarter for Carroll.
