Police Blotter: Canyon Creek Avalanche, Kids Pose as Cops

The Kalispell Police and Flathead County Sheriff’s reports for Wednesday included the following:

11:39 a.m. Big Mountain Ski Patrol successfully found and pulled a man out from under a pile of snow left over from an avalanche. The man had been snowmobiling in the Canyon Creek area. He was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center and his injuries were not life threatening.

12:14 p.m. A man that had left his vehicle at a repair shop came back to find that the stereo had been stolen out of it.

12:20 p.m. There were some big rocks in the road on US Highway 93.

12:36 p.m. Homeowners called in to say that their previous tenant had stolen a lawnmower and chairs.

2:01 p.m. An angry dog-owner called in to complain that a yellow dog and a black dog came over to her house and attacked her dog, which is now in surgery.

2:36 p.m. Someone in Columbia Falls claimed to have witnessed someone holding a white bag. They assumed it was drugs and called the Sheriff’s Department.

4:18 p.m. A man from Whitefish called the Sheriff’s Department on the 19th to warn them that a woman would be calling in to complain about him singing carols on the 21st.

5:04 p.m. A Whitefish man wearing a tan T-shirt allegedly threw snowballs at a group of kids and choked one of them.

6:06 p.m. A man left his expensive chainsaw in the back of his pickup in the Wal-Mart parking lot and someone stole it.

7:57 p.m. A group of naughty children were counseled after throwing snowballs at cars in Kalispell.

8:57 p.m. A woman called in to say that her boyfriend threw her to the ground and smashed her head into the cement. She had gone to the KRMC emergency room and had sustained minor injuries.

10:17 p.m. A snowplow driver called into complain about a bunch of kids that threw snowballs at him.

10:17 p.m. A drunken dad ripped the phone out of the wall because he was tired of listening to his wife and daughter argue over it. He then claimed he was having a heart attack, but he wasn’t.

11:25 p.m. A 23-year-old woman called the Sheriff’s Department after she was pulled over by a group of drunken kids driving a white mini van with red and white lights on its roof. She said the kids in the car pulled her over for speeding. After a few minutes of scolding her they told her it was a joke and asked her and her friend if they wanted to party. She said “no.” When a Kalispell police officer found the van and pulled it over he arrested two 17-year-old boys and took one 17-year-old girl who was reported as a runaway into the station to be collected by her parents. Upon inspection of the vehicle the officer found the emergency lights lying on the floor next to an empty bottle of vodka and some orange juice.

2:11 a.m. A man called the Sheriff’s Department after he beat his soon to be ex-wife’s sleeping boyfriend with a baseball bat. After finding them asleep together, he violently maimed the man who is now at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. The woman sustained minor injuries. She drove the two of them to the hospital. The husband was charged with felony assault with a weapon and aggravated assault.
