FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) – Scott Cutley scored seven of his 19 points in overtime as Cal State Fullerton rallied for a 79-76 victory over Montana on Thursday night.
Cutley had 11 rebounds and five assists, Frank Robinson scored 20 points and Marcus Crenshaw added 16 points for the Titans (6-2), who have won four of six games.
Jordan Hasquet scored 23 points, Andrew Strait had 14 points and 10 rebounds and Ceylon Elgin-Taylor added a career-high 14 points for the Grizzlies (5-7), who lost their fifth consecutive game.
With the score tied at 64 in overtime, Cutley scored five points in 48 seconds on a jump shot, a lay-in and a free throw to put Fullerton ahead 69-64 with 3:22 left.
Strait’s lay-in narrowed Montana’s deficit to 71-70 but Crenshaw’s 3-point shot and Cutley’s lay-in extended the Titans’ lead to 76-70 with 50.8 seconds remaining.
The Grizzlies led 62-55 with 1:50 left in regulation but Fullerton used a 7-0 spurt to force overtime. Cutley’s lay-in tied the score with 16.1 seconds left, then Marcus Morgan blocked Strait’s attempted lay-in with one second to go.
The Titans held a 31-21 lead in the first half but Montana rallied to move ahead 54-43 with 10:26 left in regulation.
