MISSOULA (AP) – Matt Martin scored 17 points Sunday afternoon to help Montana end a five-game losing streak with a 91-36 rout of Montana Tech.
Jordan Hasquet added 16 points and 13 rebounds for the Griz (6-7). Andrew Strait also scored 16 and Ryan Staudacher added a career-high 15 points.
Montana forced Tech, an NAIA school from Butte, into 19 first-half turnovers while bolting to a 51-14 lead at intermission. Martin scored seven of his points during a 15-0 run that gave the Griz a 26-5 lead midway through the first half.
Strait, who made all six of his field goals in the first half, had six of his points during a 13-0 burst that gave Montana a 46-11 lead with 2:04 remaining in the half.
Montana led by as many as 56 points several times in the second half.
Montana Tech (4-10), which counted the game as an exhibition, was led by Casey Briggs with 12 points and eight rebounds.
Montana made 50 percent of its shoots from the floor, compared to 27 percent for the Orediggers. The Grizzlies outrebounded Tech 43-31.
