The Glacier Nordic Center is an idyllic place to enjoy the winter’s beauty without some of the hassles.
The club maintains 12 kilometers of cross-country trails looping across serene landscape at Whitefish Lake Golf Course. The trails are groomed daily and the gentle sloping terrain is easy for beginners, a great workout for advanced skiers and an opportunity for the whole family to enjoy the outdoors.
The club also maintains 3 kilometers of lit trails, which remain on until 11 p.m. for night skiing.
Being located close to downtown Whitefish, it is popular for people looking for a quick bit of fresh air and exercise after work, said Laura Nugent, owner of the Outback Ski Shack.
The ski shack, located at the trailhead, offers rental equipment, waxing and repairs, lessons and expert advice.
How to Get There: From downtown Whitefish, continue north on U.S. Highway 93. Turn right into the Whitefish Lake Golf Club and Nordic Center, across from Grouse Mountain Lodge.
