The WildKats traveled to Whitefish’s Dog Pound this evening and came away with a few bites, falling 58-44.
Kelsey DeWitt (40) led the Kats with a huge night, 20 points. Samantha Ladenburg (33) had eight. Alyssa Ladenburg (21) was held to seven points as she was pursued all night by a physical Whitefish defense. Leading scorers for Whitefish were Kate Klundt (15) with 18 points, including three 3-pointers, and Ashley Ferda (20) with 16 (four 3-pointers). Columbia Falls did not take any 3-point shots and was 8 of 16 from the line. Whitefish shot a weak 22% from the line (2 of 9).
Whitefish and Columbia Falls have a lot of state championships between them. Each banner on that back wall (and you can’t see them all) represents a state championship team. Columbia Falls’ gym is also blanketed in banners. As in business, rivalries are a good thing that make everyone better.
