Kalispell City Council meets tonight at 7 p.m. to tackle a number of issues as part of an informal work session at which no votes are allowed. Among the items for discussion:
–A student presentation on homeless shelters
–The city is in discussion with Valley Bank to do a land exchange in which the bank would acquire the city’s five lots on Main Street between Third and Fourth Streets, and the city would acquire five of the bank’s lots on First Avenue West.
–Flathead High is pushing to have several alleys that no longer function properly be turned over to the school, and that a portion of Fourth Avenue West be converted to a landscaped area
–Council will also discuss Constitutional Initiative 99, which would limit property tax increases to 1.5 percent annually and tie the value of the property to its sales price
–An update on the 911 emergency response improvement efforts
