Guard Units to Begin Extra Training for Possible Deployment

By Beacon Staff

GREAT FALLS (AP) – Four Montana National Guard units, including the 639th Company in Kalispell, have been ordered to begin additional training for possible deployment.

Meanwhile, the 120th Fighter Wing of the Montana Air National Guard has been told to expect deployment in late February or early March.

The units ordered to begin extra training are:

— The 163rd Armored Cavalry Regiment based in Belgrade

— The 639th Quartermaster Company in Kalispell

— The 143rd Military Police Detachment in Livingston

— Company A of the 189th General Support Aviation Battalion in Helena.

Army Guard officials say no deployment orders have been issued for the four units, but such training typically is ordered a year or two before a unit is deployed.
