Police Blotter: Bed Fire, House and Tenant Beatings

The Kalispell Police and Flathead County Sheriff’s reports for Thursday included the following:

5:27 a.m. Someone called in about a suspicious coatless man who was out hitchhiking in Whitefish. He was wearing a T-shirt and no one seems to be sure whether he was wearing pants.

8:26 a.m. A woman in Whitefish called in to report that her bed was on fire. She put it out with a fire extinguisher, but it was still smoldering.

10:07 a.m. Four mailboxes out on Farm to Market were shot with bullets.

11:37 a.m. Whitefish residents called in because there was a suspicious woman pounding on their door. The woman turned out to be an entirely unsuspicious home health nurse who had found the wrong residence.

3:08 p.m. A man called in to complained to the Montana Human Rights Commission about a social service agency in Lakeside. He said they were rude to him. In retaliation he claimed he might just go get himself a shotgun and start shooting up the town. He was contacted by deputies and he said he wasn’t seriously considering shooting anyone.

4:34 p.m. A woman and her 17-year-old daughter fought each other. No one was injured.

6:04 p.m. JC Penny’s in Kalispell was evacuated because someone smelled a strong gas odor. Responding departments were unable to find any sign of gas.

6:19 p.m. Dogs were barking on Haywire Gulch.

6:36 p.m. Someone called in because they saw a little dog chasing deer.

12:16 a.m. A landlord beat up a tenant because he was behind on rent. The landlord is now in the slammer.

2:08 a.m. A guy attempted to beat up his house. He was deemed to not be a danger to others – just his house.

The departments responded to 128 calls for service.
