Police Blotter: Extreme Road Rage and Another Naked Man

By Christie Burns

The Kalispell Police and Flathead County Sheriff’s reports for Thursday included the following:

9:28 a.m. An angry Lakeside resident called in because a husky killed two of his little ducks.

9:59 a.m. An irritated woman reported that her neighbor was standing in her driveway with a transient.

11:54 p.m. There was something burning on top of the viaduct in Whitefish.

11:57 p.m. An injured cat was hauled off to the animal shelter.

2:50 p.m. A motorcyclist freaked out after a man driving a truck cut him off on Main Street. The pair drove side by side and yelled at each other for a short distance. Thee angry men then pulled over into a parking lot of a business south of Kalispell to fight. The motorcyclist smashed the back window of the man’s pickup with his helmet. When a deputy arrived both men had calmed down and admitted to their stupidity. The biker
offered to pay for the smashed window.

4:22 p.m. A woman called in asking for an animal warden to pick up a nasty feral cat that keeps coming into her home through the pet door.

5:14 p.m. Two women yelled at two men at a gas station in Coram.

6:00 p.m. A woman at a trailer park called in after she asked a man who was speeding through the park in his little sports car to slow down. He told her he didn’t have to and that he “can show off” if he wants to. She said she would call the cops and he said “too bad!”

6:54 p.m. A black bear on Big Mountain was eating trash.

8:26 p.m. A man called in to report that another man had just smashed the window of his truck with a bat. When deputies arrived, the man with the bat admitted that he was sick of his neighbor driving drunk through the neighborhood so he smashed his window. The deputy found the victim and his friend hiding in the bushes. After identifying them they discovered the two had outstanding warrants. The victims were arrested.

11:20 p.m. The transients who were kicked out of their camp behind Wal-Mart were trying to set up a new camp behind another business off U.S. Highway 2 East. They were promptly booted out of that location as well.

11:31 p.m. An inmate in the detention center complained that an officer was using excessive force. The inmate had gotten into trouble and wasn’t allowed to go outside and play during their special outside time. When the officer told him he had to stay inside, the inmate tried to run past him, so the officer pushed him back into his cell. Other inmates said that this particular troublemaker complains all the time.

12:30 a.m. An Evergreen woman called in to report a man who was sitting in her backyard wearing only underwear and talking to himself. He was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center where they said he was experiencing a “serotonin dump.”
