Monday Buffet: Michelle Obama in Kalispell, Trade Issue Dropped, Thong Mask Robbers

By Beacon Staff

Good morning; today is the anniversary of the founding of the Italian Republic.

In the Beacon this morning, Michelle Obama will be in Kalispell today meeting with volunteers for her husband’s presidential campaign. The event is not open to the public. Officials have identified the Flathead man who died in a motor scooter crash Friday as Darrel Baker. Mark Riffey scored some great pics of the Columbia Falls High School graduation ceremony. And our new food columnist, chef Jim Gray writes about a different kind of dip for your French fries: curry.

In state news, it’s all about which Clinton or Obama went where; and they’ve been just about everywhere. Michelle Obama will be in Billings today, before heading to the Flathead. Bill Clinton was all over the state this weekend. The AP’s Matt Gouras writes about the shifting issue of free trade being dropped from Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton’s stump speeches on the eve of the primaries in Montana and South Dakota. Voter turnout is set to break records for a primary tomorrow. And while U.S. Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., remains undecided on Obama or Clinton, a Georgetown photographer has spotted an Obama poster in the window of Baucus’s townhouse.

And finally, check out this story about some robbers who wore womens’ thong underwear as masks during the heist. Ridiculous.
