By Beacon Staff

A 29-year-old Wisconsin man was killed in a crash at the intersection of U.S. 93 and Montana 82, just north of Flathead Lake in northwestern Montana.

Flathead County officials say Toby Heikkila of Madison, Wis., died at the scene of the crash just after 5 p.m. Thursday.

The Montana Highway Patrol says Heikkila was attempting to turn left onto U.S. 93 northbound, when a southbound Oldsmobile ran a red light and struck his Ford Contour broadside.

The man’s passenger, a 24-year-old woman, was taken to a Kalispell hospital with minor injuries.

The 83-year-old driver of the Oldsmobile also suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and was taken to the hospital by helicopter.

Highway Patrol Trooper Glen Barcus says the patrol will recommend the county attorney file charges against the driver of the Oldsmobile.
