Driver in Critical Condition After Evergreen Office Collision

A 71-year-old man is in critical condition after crashing his Toyota Tundra Wednesday afternoon into the side of the Flathead Insurance office on U.S. Highway 2 in Evergreen.

The driver, who has not been identified, was pulled over on the side of the highway and appeared to be “fiddling” with something in the vehicle, according to witness Kimberly McCullugh.The driver then revved his engine, sped through a yard and into the side of the office building.

The driver may have had a heart attack, according to Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Michael Haynes. He was was unconscious when an employee and patron at the insurance office removed him from his vehicle.

“He was basically brought back to life by the Evergreen Fire Department,” Haynes said. The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
