On Thursday evening, a substantial crowd of Columbia Falls folks could be found at the band shell in Marentette Park listening to the sounds of the Montana Highlanders, a bagpipe band.
For the brief time I was there, the band provided some info about playing the bagpipes and what the parts are named and then cranked out a great military medley to salute Veterans in the crowd. As each service was represented with their song during the medley, the Vets who served in that branch stood up and the crowd applauded. Cool stuff.
The Thursday evening concert series sponsored by the Columbia Falls Lions continues at 8pm through the summer, so be sure to come out to Marentette Park and check it out.
