Police Blotter: Shot Cat and Hungry Bear on Hilltop Road

6:41 a.m. A jet ski that belonged to a local water sports dealer was spotted a half-mile out in Peaceful Bay.

10:02 a.m. Someone shot a cat on North Hilltop Road in Columbia Falls. The cat survived and is at the vet.

10:42 a.m. Someone flagged down a deputy on Foothill Road to report someone shooting a handgun near the road. The deputy was unable to locate the shooter.

11:28 p.m. A 15-year-old girl in Kalispell claims her mother abused her. Authorities are attempting to locate the mom.

12:28 p.m. Someone rolled a vehicle twice near the Teakettle fishing access. The man walked away without injuries.

1:56 p.m. A Bigfork man assaulted his girlfriend and went directly to jail.

3:14 p.m. Someone on Howard Drive called in to report that their neighbor had hit the car alarm button six times.

3:23 p.m. Poison control was notified after a 3-year-old girl drank bubbles in Whitefish. Poison control notified the caller that they had never dealt with such a case. They advised if she didn’t appear sick that she would be OK.

4:29 p.m. Someone reported some obscenity-yelling skateboarders in Bigfork. Deputies attempted to locate the skaters but were unable to.

4:56 p.m. A Samsung cellular telephone, valued at $165, was stolen at Foys Lake.

5:49 p.m. A family member of a woman who has been missing since July 12 called in to tell authorities that she may have been hiking in Glacier.

6:32 p.m. Neighbors in Bigfork were at each other’s throats over a cat.

8:03 p.m. A man in Ponderosa Estates had a bloody nose. He was assaulted by an unidentified third party.

8:34 p.m. Someone stole tools from a shed on Hems Road in Columbia Falls.

9:31 p.m. A woman called authorities because she saw her ex-husband leaving the area near her home in Marion. She was advised how to get a restraining order.

9:40 p.m. A 15-year-old male was caught stealing a CD from an Evergreen box store.

9:45 p.m. Someone watching a house on Highland Drive in Kalispell saw a person on the porch. It turned out to be a son of the owner of the home.

10:37 p.m. Someone reported two suspicious vehicles near a school in Hungry Horse.

12:04 a.m. A cable television line was down.

12:07 a.m. A black bear was reportedly chasing livestock on Hilltop Road.

The departments responded to 177 calls for service.
