TradeRoots: Learning Business Without Borders

By Beacon Staff

Area residents and business owners have the opportunity to explore international trade opportunities when a national trade education program hosts a seminar in Kalispell next week.

On Wednesday, Aug. 13, TradeRoots, a branch organization of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, will present “Business Opportunities for Montana: Expansion through Trade to New Markets” in conjunction with the local chamber.

Speakers will include Montana Sen. Max Baucus, U.S. Chamber employees and several ambassadors from foreign countries, including Colombia, Peru, New Zealand, South Africa, Vietnam and Morocco. Chief executive officers from the businesses MilkyWhey, Timeless Seeds and Timberline Tool will also speak about opportunities through trade in Montana.

“The idea is to provide information on international trade and why it’s important and relevant to the business climate in Montana,” Bridgette Evans, Kalispell Chamber’s director of member services, said.

TradeRoots is a national trade education program dedicated to raising grassroots support and public awareness about the importance of international trade to local communities. The organization aims to develop strong partnerships between associations, local chambers of commerce, economic development groups and the local business community in order to promote free enterprise.

The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Kalispell’s Red Lion Motel. Admission is free, but registration is required. Call the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce at 758-2800 or go online to www.kalispellchamber.com for more information or to register.
