Suspect Arrested in Border Break-Ins

By Beacon Staff

A man wanted for a string of cabin break-ins in the Polebridge area has been arrested after apparently spending almost a week in the backcountry along the U.S.-Canadian border.

John Lynn is accused of breaking into several cabins and shooting at the long-closed Trail Creek border station north of Polebridge.

The 44-year-old Lynn is also accused of pointing a .22 caliber rifle at a man and his son who confronted Lynn in their neighbor’s cabin on Aug. 17 before Lynn apparently fled north into Glacier National Park and across the Canadian border.

Lynn was arrested Friday in Glacier Park. He is being held in the Flathead County jail on suspicion of burglary and assault with a weapon. Lynn could also face federal charges.
