Hundreds Mourn Trooper Killed in Head-On Crash

By Beacon Staff

Hundreds of people, including law enforcement officers from all over the state, attended the funeral of a Montana Highway Patrol trooper killed last week in a head-on crash while pursuing another vehicle.

The funeral for 29-year-old Evan Schneider was held Tuesday at the Christian Center Assembly of God Church in Kalispell.

His mother, Becky Sturdevant, said her son’s final duty was to give his life serving every person who travels Montana’s highways.

Schneider was remembered for his easy smile, empathy and his willingness to lend a hand. He was also an avid collector of coins and Ford automobiles.

The family plans to scatter his ashes at a later date.
