Coroner: Flathead Lake Drowning was Accidental

By Beacon Staff

Authorities say a former Alaska man living in the Flathead Valley died by drowning, and the death was accidental.

The body of 43-year-old George Boss Jr. was found Monday afternoon, washed up on the shore of Woods Bay in Flathead Lake.

The Flathead County sheriff’s office says Boss had last been seen Sunday evening, fishing from a personal watercraft.

Undersheriff Pete Wingert says Boss’s body was taken to the Montana State Crime Lab in Missoula, where a forensic autopsy was conducted. He says Dr. Gary Dale determined the cause of death was drowning. There were no indications of foul play, and Wingert says it’s being classified as an accidental death.

He says Boss recently moved to the Flathead from Alaska.
