FVCC Talk: Ambassador on South Asia Security

Flathead Valley Community College’s Multicultural Affairs program will host a presentation tomorrow night broadcast live from the University of Montana on how the Afghan War and Pakistan’s volatile conditions impact India.

Free and open to the public, the presentation by Hercharan Dhody, former Indian ambassador to the United Statesis, is titled, “The Strategic Environment in South Asia: How the Afghan War and Pakistan’s Troubles Impact India.” The lecture will focus on security challenges in the increasingly unpredictable region of South Asia. In an FVCC press release, Director Terry Weidner of the Mansfield Center at The University of Montana said Dhody’s presentation takes on special importance as the United States shifts its military attention to the Taliban in Afghanistan and its counter-terrorist focus to Western Pakistan.

A recent retiree from a diplomatic career that included five ambassadorships, Dhody remains influential in India as a foreign policy and cultural consultant. This lecture will be the only public presentation Dhody will deliver during his current visit to the United States.

The live broadcast will take place from 7 – 8:30 p.m. in the Board Room in Blake Hall on the FVCC Kalispell campus.
