The Whitefish Mountain Resort Ski and Snowboard Team will be holding an informational meeting and orientation on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 6:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Whitefish Library.
Anyone interested in the Freestyle Team, now entering its second year as a combined ski and snowboard program, should attend the meeting to learn more about what the program offers. Some of the approximately 40 current members and coaches of the team will be on hand to answer questions.
“Members of the team are interested in learning new tricks and improving freestyle skills, and that’s what we teach them,” said Freestyle Team Director Steve Knox, in a press release from the resort.
The team does its training in the Fishbowl Terrain Park, on the Jump Hill (named Knox’s Landing after Coach Knox), and all over the mountain when the snow is good. They also competes in freestyle events, including the 11 that Whitefish Mountain Resort will be hosting this season. Other coaches this year are Andrew Johnson, Erik Johnson, Jay Dobbins and newcomer Kyle Duty.
“These guys are some of the best skiers and riders on the mountain,” said Knox. The coaching team has a combined 40 years of competition freestyle ski and snowboarding experience
This year, the Freestyle team will offer programs with one, two or four days per week of training. For more information, Knox can be contacted directly by emailing [email protected], and the ski and snowboard school desk can be reached at (406) 862-2909.
