Montanans Favored for Obama Staff Jobs

By Beacon Staff

You can’t help but love the lede of this humorous piece in Politico about the former Baucus aide doing the hiring for the new Obama administration:

Want a staff job in Barack Obama’s White House?

Pretend to be from Montana.

That’s the advice from North Dakota Sen. Byron Dorgan, whose former chief of staff Jim Messina is the director of personnel for the Obama transition team.

Messina, 39, is originally from Denver and grew up in Boise, Idaho, but he earned his political science degree from the University of Montana and fell hard for Big Sky Country. “Everyone should claim to be from Montana when talking to Jim. First and foremost, he’s a Montanan,’ Dorgan said.”
