Whitefish Mountain Resort is unlikely to open Saturday. After the recent winter storm passed, there is still not enough snow to fire up the chairlifts for opening day.
“We were hopeful we would be able to get a few runs on the north side of the mountain tp open on Saturday,”Public Relations Manager Donnie Clapp said Wednesday. “But this morning, we took a look at the snow at the bottom of Chair 7 and there’s not quite enough to ski safely all the way to the terminal.”
The resort says it will give 24 hours notice to skiers before opening and will update its plans at www.skiwhitefish.com.
“It is important to us to provide skiing and riding to our pass holders as quickly as possible,” said Dan Graves, the resort’s president. “The forecast for this weekend is looking pretty good, so it’s very possible we could be up and running early next week.”
