‘Grin and Bare It’

By Beacon Staff

Pets – and supporters – of the Human Society of Northwest Montana are getting a little frisky: The society recently released its 2009 “Grin and Bear It” calendar.

“This revealing calendar is a labor of love and naked evidence to the commitment of Humane Society supporters who dare to bare their full support for homeless cats and dogs in the Flathead Valley,” according to a press release from the society.

Created by photographer Trevon Baker, this calendar is inspired by the Touchstone Pictures “Calendar Girls” movie. It features “totally nude” adoption center animals accompanied by Humane Society board members, local veterinarians, volunteers and staff wearing their birthday suits and their best grins. The calendars retail for $20 each and all proceeds benefit the orphaned animals at the Charlotte Edkins Animal Adoption Center located at 3499 U.S. Highway 93 N. in Kalispell.

The 2009 “Grin and Bare It” calendar is available for purchase at the Humane Society’s adoption center from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday and may also be purchased online at www.hsnwmt.com.
