FVCC Theatre Presents ‘CHICAGO’

By Beacon Staff

Flathead Valley Community College Theatre opened the smash musical hit, CHICAGO, tonight, and will continue the performance — including a special, one-night dinner show in collaboration with the school’s culinary students — through Dec. 20.

CHICAGO is the longest running revival in Broadway history, featuring quality and simplistic material. “With little plot to begin with and minimal set and costumes, the leading roles can be played by almost any triple-threat performers who have the power to pull them off,” according to a press release from the college. “FVCC Theatre has found the performers in Jillian Vashro, Michelle Keener, Sarah Ann Vail and Arron Clark in four of the principle roles—Roxie, Velma, Mama and the razzle-dazzle lawyer Billy—and has backed them with a huge supporting cast of sizzling hot singers and dancers.”

CHICAGO will be performed in the FVCC Theatre located in the Arts and Technology Building on the college’s Kalispell campus Dec. 10-13 and 17-20 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 13 and 20 at 2 p.m. Advance tickets are available for purchase at the FVCC Bookstore Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. and Fridays from 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. or by calling 756-3814. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for students and seniors. Due to the subject matter, the show is strongly recommended for adult audiences only.

For the first time, theatre patrons have the opportunity to eat a gourmet dinner prepared by the FVCC culinary arts students before the 7 p.m. performance on December 13. The many dinner features include baked salmon coulibiac with tarragon beurre blanc sauce, salted cod cakes with aioli, baked imperial crab, dry rubbed flatiron steaks with chimmichuri sauce, whole roasted pork loin with pomegranate relish and Napa Valley style roast turkey breast. Seating for the buffet-style dinner is limited. Dinner tickets are $40 each and do not include the theatre performance. Dinner tickets must be purchased in advance at the FVCC Bookstore. To reserve tickets with a credit card, call 756-3814. In the event of a sold-out show, dinner patrons staying for CHICAGO are strongly encouraged to purchase show tickets in advance at the FVCC Bookstore.
