Canadian Man Charged with Stabbing Ronan Trucker

MOORHEAD, Minn. – A judge set bail at $1 million for a Canadian man accused of stabbing a Montana trucker at an Interstate 94 rest stop near Moorhead, Minn.

Harmit Bhangu told police God ordered him to kill the man Sunday.

Bhangu, 32, of Chestermere, Alberta, made an initial appearance in District Court Tuesday. He is charged with second-degree attempted murder, assault with a dangerous weapon and fourth-degree assault on a peace officer.

Dale Morigeau, 51, of Ronan, Mont., remained hospitalized in critical condition Tuesday at Fargo Innovis Health, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Clay County Attorney Brian Melton says Bhangu was placed on medication to keep him from being violent in jail.
