Hoop Cats run past Eureka, 69-40

By Beacon Staff

A tough first half defense held Eureka to a mere seven points, allowing Columbia Falls to stretch to a 30+ point lead at the half and walk home with the win over the Class B Lions Thursday night, 69-40.

When Eureka’s inside defense was effective, the Cats’ Michael Williams poured in a few three pointers that opened up the inside for leading scorer Grant Getts (12 pts) and the rest of the team – spreading the scoring out across 11 team members.

Ryan Holder (#23) gets a little too aggressive and is called for charging Wildcat Kyle Howell (#11)
Williams and Mackey Nolan (#21) put the pressure on Eureka’s Jesse Thomson (#11). Nolan drew a foul this time around.
Grant Getts (#44, behind Holder) and Kyle Howell (#11) deny the open shot to Ryan Holder (#23).
Thomson’s hair stands on end as he tries to penetrate against Kaleb Johnson (#35).
As usual, the student section is rockin’ the house.
