Building Group Names New Government Affairs Director

The Flathead Building Association has hired George Culpepper, Jr. to act as a full-time government affairs director for the group, lobbying for local, state and national issues as they relate to the building industry. Culpepper was most recently the government-affairs director for the Northwest Montana Association of Realtors, and currently serves on the Flathead County Planning Board.

Culpepper was recently featured in this Beacon story about how, in response to what they perceive as an increasingly regulatory environment for development, groups such as the Montana Association of Realtors and the Montana Building Industry Association are ramping up their political activity to unprecedented levels.

The Flathead Building Association is pleased to announce that they have hired a full time Government Affairs Director, George Culpepper, Jr. George will oversee all aspects of local, state and national issues as they relate to the building industry.

George is a 34 year old native of Anchorage, Alaska. After a few years of College, George joined the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged with a service-connected disability with the rank of Sergeant in 2001.

In 2003, Culpepper moved to Colorado were he attended and graduated from Metro State College of Denver with a degree in Political Science.

While in Colorado, he worked on the 2004 Pete Coors for U.S. Senate campaign and served as a legislative aide in the Colorado House of Representatives. In mid-2005, Culpepper served as Campaign Manager for the “Committee for a Vibrant Aberdeen” in Aberdeen, South Dakota where he was responsible for a record fifty percent turnout for the approval of a Wal-Mart Supercenter.

Upon winning his campaign, Culpepper joined the Realtors Association in Washington State where he served as their Political Affairs Director. Then in 2007, Culpepper joined the Northwest Montana Association of REALTORS as their Government Affairs Director advocating on behalf of Realtor and home owner issues in Northwest Montana.

Culpepper is an experienced Government and Political Affairs individual with proven skills in the areas of public policy, legislative affairs, campaign management, grassroots campaigns, political action committees and political fundraising.

He was elected and appointed to various leadership positions throughout his career and most recently, was appointed to the Flathead County Planning Board and the Clark Fork River Task Force. His awards include Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, and 2004 Metro State Student Leadership Award.

Culpepper is an avid hunter, fisherman and horseman. He resides in Kalispell, MT with his wife, Nicole and son, Noah.
