Kalispell Teen Expelled for Bringing Gun to School

By Beacon Staff

A 14-year-old Kalispell boy has been expelled from school for two years for bringing a loaded gun to school.

The school board told the boy’s mother of the decision Tuesday night during a closed executive session.

Officials at Smith Valley School said the boy brought a loaded 9 millimeter pistol to Smith Valley School on Feb. 4. A student told a teacher he saw the boy with the gun. The principal called the Flathead County sheriff’s office.

Deputies searched the boys’ residence and his grandfather’s residence and recovered the gun.

The boy has been charged with possessing a weapon in a school building. The boy is still being held at the Flathead County Juvenile Detention Center.
