President Barack Obama has invited Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., to join him in Denver as he signs the $787-billion stimulus plan, also known as the “Jobs Bill.” Baucus will no longer be joining Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont., at the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce for a “jobs roundtable.” Tester, however, will continue on with the meeting.
Baucus will be back in Montana Wednesday morning to address the Montana Legislature.
Here’s the senior senator’s entire e-mail:
BAUCUS TO ATTEND JOBS BILL SIGNING IN DENVER TUES.
(BILLINGS, Mont.) -Montana Senator Max Baucus has accepted an invitation to join Barack Obama in Denver on Tues., February 17, as the President signs into law the historic jobs bill passed last week by Congress.
Baucus, the Senate Finance Committee Chairman, was a key architect of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, a bill that will pump more than $600 million into Montana’s economy and protect 11,OOO jobs in the Treasure State.
Baucus had to rearrange his Montana schedule to accommodate the historic bill signing in Denver, Colo.
Schedule changes for TUESDAY, February 16, 2009:
· Kalispell: Baucus was scheduled to attend a “jobs roundtable” meeting in Kalispell with fellow U.S. Senator Jon Tester. While Tester will continue on with the meeting, Baucus will not attend.
· Missoula: Baucus was also slated on Tuesday afternoon to take part in an event celebrating the finalizing of the federal portion of the Montana Legacy Project in Missoula, but that event has been postponed by organizers until Baucus can attend at a later time.
Baucus will resume his Montana schedule starting on Wednesday morning, when he addresses the Montana Legislature.
