Tester Opposes Renewing Assault Weapons Ban

Jay Stevens, over at Left in the West, pointed out this <a href="http://thehill.com/campaign-2008/revival-of-gun-debate-puts-gillibrand-in-tough-spot-2009-02-27.html" title="piece out in The Hill“>piece in The Hill.

Attorney General Eric Holder recently brought up the prospect of renewing the assault weapons ban that expired in 2004. But it appears to be facing an uphill battle in Congress. Both Democratic Sens. Jon Tester (Mont.) and Mark Warner (Va.) have said they would oppose the move:

“It’s baloney,” Tester said of the ban.

And now even House Speaker Nancy Pelosi seems cold to the idea.
