Counterfeiters Passing $100 Bills in Montana

By Beacon Staff

Counterfeiters are passing $100 bills in Montana. Here’s some information from the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office:

The suspects are described as Hispanic males, driving an unknown rental car with California plates.

The bills do not show that they are counterfeit when a counterfeit detecting pen is used. The counterfeit bills have a slight “tackiness” to them. A clerk will feel “ridges” in the ink on the bills. The color change ink in the lower right corner will not change to black; it will stay green.

If a suspected counterfeit bill is located, please contact the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office at 758-5610.
