New Film Documents the Realities of Conflict Coverage

By Beacon Staff

A new film “Blood Trail” premiered Friday, March 13, at the South by Southwest film festival in Austin, Texas. The film follows photographer Robert King through three wars, numerous conflicts and spans 15 years. Having only watched the trailer, all I can say is that it looks intense.

What intrigues me most about the film is not simply the fact that we follow a photographer into battle, or that we investigate the burning questions every photographer has (in war or otherwise) “Why are we doing this?” “How does it affect us?” But we have a chance to follow one photographer for 15 year and we are a witness to not only his experiences, but how they shape and change him as a person and journalist.

Read a more comprehensive story on the movie (here) on the NPPA Web site.
Visit the “Blood Trail” Web site (here) for more information on the producers and how they told the story through adversity as well as more information about the film itself.
