On The Agenda: Grandview Station Bid, Parks Revenue, Prescription Drug Aid

By Beacon Staff

After grappling with transportation impact fees for months, Kalispell City Council returns to some more basic issues tonight at its regular 7 p.m. meeting. Public Works Director Jim Hansz will outline how the city will upgrade and expand the Grandview Lift Station this summer to accommodate the increased sewage needs of the city’s north side – then a public comment hearing on the project will begin the meeting, prior to the council’s decision allowing the staff to open up the work for bid.

The council will also take public comment on a proposal to Parks and Recreation Department out of a separate special revenue fund, as a way to shield it from the budget and staff cuts it has suffered by being funded out of the general fund. The council will then vote on whether to set up that special revenue fund for the Parks Department, beginning April 1.

Also on the agenda tonight:

–Silverbrook Estates is requesting an extension of the Developer’s Extension (Latecomers’) Agreement from the customary 10-year timeline to 30 years. Silverbrook also requests approval of preliminary plat for its second phase, which includes 167 acres located at the southwest corner of the intersection of Church Drive and U.S. Highway 93.

–Cornerstone Church seeks a zoning change to accommodate a new bank facility located on its property at the intersection of Northridge Drive and U.S. 93.

–The proposed 911 Center in the Spring Prairie Development seeks two amendments to its planned unit development regarding minimum yard setback requirements and emergency communication tower height developments.

–Council will vote on whether to join a prescription drug discount program on offer for all city residents from the National League of Cities.

–Council will also vote on its intent to transfer the city’s 1978 Seagraves Ladder fire truck to Columbia Falls.
