Places: Golf in the Flathead Valley

Brush the dust off those golf clubs, it’s time to hit the links. Here is a quick roundup of local golf courses.

Big Mountain Golf Club – Kalispell: (406) 751-1950. This 18-hole course was designed by two-time U.S. Open champion Andy North and combines traditional Scottish links and natural pines winding along the Stillwater River.

Buffalo Hill Golf Course – Kalispell: (406) 756-4530. The 27-hole course, just minutes from downtown Kalispell, features large elevation changes as the tree-lined course meanders around the Stillwater River.

Eagle Bend Golf Club – Bigfork: (406) 837-7310. The north shore where the Flathead River meets Flathead Lake is home to this 27-hole course. Tee times are at a premium most of the season at this semi-private course.

Frontier Golf Course – Kalispell: (406) 755-0111. Challenge your short game on this nine-hole, mostly par-three, course. It’s fun and inexpensive. Gorge on barbecue post-links at the Frontier Roadhouse.

Meadow Lake Golf Course – Columbia Falls: (406) 892-2111. While golfing on these 18 holes, enjoy spectacular views of Glacier National Park’s peaks and seven holes bordering streams or lakes.

Village Greens Golf Club – Kalispell: (406) 752-4666. A popular local destination, spectacular fairway knolls, shimmering lakes and mountain vistas makes for an enjoyable 18 holes for any ability.

Whitefish Lake Golf Club – Whitefish: (406) 862-4000. Montana’s only 36-hole course weaves through pine and birch trees near Whitefish Lake. Enjoy viewing wildlife, from eagles to birds to larger game.

Polson Bay Golf Club – Polson: (406) 833-8230. The south shore of Flathead Lake is home to an 18-hole regulation course and a nine-hole regulation course. Both are built on rolling terrain and water comes into play.
