Kalispell Burglar Sentenced to Five Years

A 22-year-old Kalispell man who pleaded guilty to committing two separate strings of daylight burglaries has been sentenced to five years in prison without the possibility of parole.

District Judge Ted Lympus also ordered Roger Vargas to pay more than $5,800 in restitution.

Vargas pleaded guilty in January to two counts of burglary and one count of felony theft in a a plea agreement that called for 16 other felony charges, including 14 for burglary, be dismissed.

Vargas was accused of breaking into several homes in the Foy’s Lake area southwest of Kalispell in October 2008, as well as with a string of burglaries between November 2007 and mid-January 2008.

Items reported stolen include televisions, cameras, computers, video game systems, guns and coins.
