Polson Youth Pleads Guilty to Attacking Mother

By Beacon Staff

POLSON – A 17-year-old Polson youth pleaded guilty to felony assault Monday, saying he threw a sharpened metal rod at his mother’s head during an argument.

Jonathan P. Korman was charged as an adult for the violent attack, which Police Chief Doug Chase says happened at about 7 p.m.

Sunday. Officers found Julie Korman lying in the doorway of a Polson apartment, bleeding from a head wound.

She was taken by helicopter to a Missoula hospital and was treated in the intensive care unit. Deputy Lake County Attorney Mark Russell said Julie Korman was in stable condition.

Jonathan Korman pleaded not guilty to a separate felony count of assault on a peace officer. He allegedly struggled with a police officer during his arrest.

District Judge C.B. McNeil scheduled the next court hearing for July 8.
