WEST GLACIER – Snowplow operators at Glacier National Park have nearly finished clearing a big patch of snow called the Big Drift.
Annual breakup of the drift is key to opening Logan Pass to traffic on Going to the Sun Road, the park’s main highway.
Road crews at Glacier say their annual spring snow work might be finished by early next week. That will be followed by cleanup that includes removing limbs, rocks and pieces of Going to the Sun Road asphalt that broke loose over the winter.
Park officials aren’t predicting when the 52-mile road will open for the season. There was snowfall this week.
