Summer Guide: Abundant Antiques

By Beacon Staff

Montana. For most out-of -towners, the word conjures up images of vast landscapes dotted with old homestead cabins and cowboys. For locals, the word means a home rich in the tradition of hard work and family. But as the state’s cities and towns quickly evolve into modern cultural centers, more and more people seek to hang onto Montana’s important and distinct past. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the rapid growth of the Flathead Valley’s antique market. Whether you’re looking for something kitsch and retro, a memento, or a piece of fine furniture to add to your home collection, the antiques featured in the valley are sure to give you a piece of vintage Montana to hold onto.

Next, pop into The Stone Chair a few doors down and one flight up at Twin Birch Square. This store boasts fine, classic and stylish antiques for the home and garden. The Barn at 100 Hill Road is just a short drive away from Bigfork’s main drag off of Highway 35. The Barn specializes in consignment items and unique and hard to find collectibles.
