While not at the press conference where the EPA declared Libby a Public Health Emergency, both Congressman Denny Rehberg and Gov. Brian Schweitzer sent out statements saying they each strongly supported the move.
Rehberg: “I’m glad the EPA has finally recognized what folks in Libby have known for some time – that the federal response was not nearly good enough. I will continue to do whatever I can to help, and I can only hope that this designation will finally get the much needed resources to those who have suffered for too long.”
Schweitzer: “At last Washington D.C. is fully recognizing the plight of the communities of Libby and Troy. The designated funds will be used to make the communities healthier.”
