Free Weekend For Families Dealing with Cancer

By Beacon Staff

Columbia Falls’ Angie Olsen, founder of the local branch of Kids Konnected, a national group aimed at helping families cope with cancer, stopped in today to tell us about a special getaway opportunity for those in the community dealing with cancer and their families.

The Bitterroot Lions Youth Camp has reserved their camp at Bitterroot Lake, near Marion, with its historic lodge, sleeping cabins, RV parking with electrical hookup, and wonderful beach, for free use for the group this weekend. Families can enjoy the playground, volleyball and basketball courts, horseshoes, and other games, plus opportunities for boat rides and fishing.

The weekend begins Saturday morning, with campers arriving anytime after 9 a.m., and continues through Sunday around 2 p.m. Meals will be provided. If people plan to stay in a cabin, they’ll need sleeping bags or bedding. A central station has flush toilets and hot showers. Anyone dealing with cancer is welcome to attend.

RSVP at 756-7168 (Sheila or message) or 253-7888 (Angie) with the number of people attending and whether you need a cabin or RV space.
