House to Consider Conservation Easements for Montana

By Beacon Staff

GREAT FALLS – A spokesman for U.S. Rep. Denny Rehberg said Monday the House is expected to consider a bill this week that provides nearly $15 million for Montana projects, including $11.75 million for five conservation easements.

The projects include the Meeteetse Spires, the Blackfoot Challenge-Nora Gulch, the Rocky Mountain Front, the Blackfoot River Special Recreation Management Area and the Greater Yellowstone Area-Cooke City Mining Claims.

“It’s not completely approved yet, but this is an important hurdle toward passage,” Rehberg spokesman Jed Link said.

Rehberg, R-Mont., said the “funding will assist the grass roots efforts of local groups and willing landowners who have come together to preserve these important landscapes for generations to come.”

Rehberg is a member of the House Appropriations Committee.
