Cianflone, Vedadi Repeat at Beacon Pro-Scratch Invitational

By Beacon Staff

The team of Kyle Cianflone and Jason Vedadi, defending co-champions of a year ago, won the second annual Flathead Beacon Pro-Scratch Golf Tournament, which concluded Tuesday at the Big Mountain Golf Club in Kalispell. The first round was played Monday at Eagle Bend Golf Club in Bigfork.

Cianflone, an assistant professional at The Stock Farm in Hamilton, and his amateur playing partner Vedadi, from Spokane, finished at 15 under par after shooting 64 Tuesday. They defeated Ryan Malby, the professional from Village Greens in Kalispell and his amateur partner Chuck Eble from Kalispell by three shots. Malby and Eble were the first round leaders with 64. The two teams were tied with four holes to go, but the Cianflone-Vedadi team shot four under for those finishing holes.

The Flathead Beacon Pro-Scratch features many of the best professional and amateur golfers in Northwest Montana and the 28 teams had players as far away as Arizona and California. It has become one of the best-received tournaments in the state over the last two years. The tournament is not only sponsored by the Beacon, but is now co-sponsored by Sun Mountain, and the prize money totals more than $15,000

Here are the two-day totals for the top finishers, with the pros listed first:
