Mutton Bustin’ Competitors Needed

By Beacon Staff

This sounds awesome. Seriously, what could be better as a kid than being a mutton bustin’ champion?

Children who wish to compete in Northwest Montana Fair’s Justin Mutton Bustin’, or sheep riding, are encouraged to apply before the Aug. 8 deadline for the limited number of slots available.

Justin Boot Company has teamed with the fair and rodeo to sponsor the event, which has young riders age 5-7 and under 55 pounds attempt to ride a sheep for six seconds from one end of the arena to the other. The event will take place each night of the rodeo, Aug. 20-22.

None of the contestants will walk away empty handed: Justin Boots will award every child a belt buckle and bandanna, and the winner will receie a pair of Justin Junior boots.

Contestants may sign up at Western Oudoors in Kalispell, Murdoch’s Ranch and Home Supply, and at CHS on West Idaho in Kalispell. The names of 24 competitors will be drawn on Aug. 8 and announced on KOFI Radio, and will be confirmed by mail or telephone. Contestants will need a signed parental consent form.
