Temporary Regional Forester Named in Missoula

By Beacon Staff

MISSOULA – Forest Service Chief Tom Tidwell has appointed Jane Cottrell to serve as temporary regional forester, overseeing national forests and grasslands in North Dakota, South Dakota, northern Idaho and Montana.

Cottrell is currently the deputy regional forester. Ranotta McNair, the supervisor of the Idaho Panhandle National Forest, will come to the Missoula regional office to handle the deputy forester job.

Tidwell says Cottrell’s experience and leadership skills will provide continuity to the region’s stakeholders and employees.

Tidwell was the regional forester until he was appointed Forest Service chief last month.
