Bomb Scare and Six Apple Thieves

Thursday 8/20

7:49 a.m. The proprietor of a Whitefish business arrived at work to find the dumpster full of unfamiliar garbage, leaving no room for the business’ trash.

7:56 a.m. Someone on Cemetery Road reports that a neighbor has confined 10-12 pit bulls in their home kitchen. Authorities will be further investigating this claim.

8:59 a.m. A Rottweiler wandered unattended on Cobbler Village but was gone when authorities arrived.

9:12 a.m. A lantern was stolen from a campsite on Tally Lake.

9:51 a.m. Someone was bitten by their own dog in Martin City. The creature has been quarantined until further notice.

9:57 a.m. Although a neighbor claims that several dogs have been neglected in Somers, authorities arrived to find the animals happy and well-fed.

10:42 a.m. An individual walking her dog on Ponderosa Drive was taken by surprise when another dog leapt out and attacked her pooch.

12:13 p.m. A large column of what appeared to be smoke turned out to be dust from a Columbia Falls rock crusher.

1:03 p.m. Two neighbors in Hungry Horse argued over a matter concerning a fence.

1:13 p.m. A 13-year-old female ran away from her Hungry Horse home. She has not yet been located.

1:16 p.m. An unattended briefcase aroused suspicions of bomb activity at the county fairgrounds. Further investigation found the item to be completely innocuous and devoid of any explosive device.

2:04 p.m. A vehicle caught fire and was extinguished on Nucleus Avenue in Columbia Falls.

2:15 p.m. Numerous items were stolen from a boat in Lakeside.

2:20 p.m. Someone driving on Helena Flats Road became frustrated when another slower driver would not allow her to pass by.

3:05 p.m. Two guys in a canoe reportedly stole an unattended lifejacket from another boater on River Road. The thieves left a note on the victim’s truck informing him that they had stolen the item.

3:08 p.m. A motor vehicle accident on Middle Road was evidently caused by kids throwing rocks.

3:27 p.m. Evidently, a female driver attempted to run over a female pedestrian on Highway 2. The victim chose not to pursue charges.

3:59 p.m. A wallet was stolen from a purse at an Evergreen box store. The card had already been used at another retailer by the time the report was made.

5:46 p.m. Six teenagers on foot were seen staring at a vehicle on Park Avenue. The youths then took several apples from a privately owned apple tree.

7:41 p.m. A lion figurine was stolen from a yard on West View Drive.

10:08 p.m. A tackle box containing a hypodermic syringe was found at the Pressentine fishing access. Although the reporting party suspected drug activity, the item was found to be legal and harmless. The box is now in the Flathead County Sheriff’s Department lost and found.

3:53 a.m. A resident of Three Mile Drive called to report that his buddy was extremely intoxicated and had decided to break things in the reporting party’s garage. The destructive individual was jailed for criminal mischief.
