Westslope Cutthroat Trout Conservation Program Continues

By Beacon Staff

The South Fork Flathead westslope cutthroat trout conservation program will continue this fall with rotenone treatments of Margaret Lake on September 9-11 and Clayton Lake on Sept. 21-24. The purpose of these projects is to remove nonnative trout and the threat they pose to westslope cutthroat trout in the South Fork drainage. Westslope cutthroat trout will be stocked in Margaret and Clayton lake the following spring to reestablish the recreational fishery. During these projects, roads and trails in the vicinity of these lakes will be closed for public safety.
