SWEETGRASS – Border agents in north-central Montana say they caught 39 pounds of cocaine being smuggled into Canada.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers found the cocaine in the ceiling lining of a 29-foot travel trailer. The trailer was being towed by a commercial service taking it from Riverside, Calif. to Alberta, Canada.
Canadian agents refused the vehicle entry, and it was returned to the U.S. port of entry, where officers conducted an imaging scan.
The agents saw anomalies in the ceiling structure and found 14 plastic-wrapped “bricks.”
No arrests were announced and port officials say the case is under investigation by immigration and customs officials.
