Spotted Bear and a Designated Dud

Monday 9/21

12:41 a.m. Someone noticed a man in a brown jacket pushing a stroller down Highway 93. Authorities attempted to perform a welfare check but could not locate him.

1:23 a.m. A man pulled a gun on several individuals in the parking lot of a local bar. The subject was located and taken directly to jail.

3:29 a.m. A resident of Preston Drive called to report that his brother was in his driveway and refused to leave. The lingering brother hit the road when he realized authorities were on the way.

3:47 a.m. Someone heard a single gunshot on Allen Drive.

7:18 a.m. A dead deer was removed from Birch Grove Road.

9:19 a.m. A mama bear and her three cubs wandered about on Hidden Valley Drive.

10:41 a.m. Two youths spotted a bear on Spotted Bear Road. The creature was reportedly wreaking havoc in the yard.

11:22 a.m. After a night of partying at a local bar, a man was driven home in his own truck by another individual. The driver then apparently wrecked the vehicle and stole the reporting party’s motorbike from the back of the truck.

12:24 p.m. Neighbors quarreled over a dog issue at a local trailer court.

12:43 p.m. A man at a public boat launch was injured when a black lab jumped out of a parked car and bit him. The dog has been quarantined until further notice.

1:37 p.m. Someone threatened another customer at an Evergreen box store. The individual was gone when authorities arrived.

2:16 p.m. A bag containing money and medication was stolen from an unlocked car on Woodland Drive.

2:57 p.m. A tree fell on what may have been power lines in Whitefish. The downed cables were not sparking.

4:12 p.m. Two individuals, one man and one woman, stood in a Shady Lane yard and yelled at the homeowner. Although the reporting party claimed not to know them, the argument was later found to be a civil issue.

5:26 p.m. A cat died of suspicious injuries at a local veterinary clinic. The creature reportedly suffered from neurological problems.

5:55 p.m. A truck traveling westbound on Highway 2 near Kila was trailing trash from the back of the vehicle.

6:19 p.m. A 12-year-old with special needs left his Columbia Falls school and began walking toward Highway 93. Columbia Falls officers and Search and Rescue personnel located and returned the child.

8:45 p.m. Several uninvited people jumped into the swimming pool at a Columbia Falls resort.

10:13 p.m. A resident of Pickleville Lane in Somers saw two male subjects outside her window. Her husband chased them away, and they did not return.
