Griz QB Suffers Concussion

By Beacon Staff

MISSOULA – One of Montana’s quarterbacks, Oregon transfer Justin Roper, suffered a concussion during last weekend’s game and doesn’t remember a play of his team’s 49-17 win over Portland State.

Not even his 56-yard pass play to Marc Mariani late in the first quarter that pulled the Grizzlies to 14-7. The TD pass happened one play after Roper was hit hard as he was shoved out of bounds by Portland State safety Jordan Brown.

When Roper when to the sidelines after the score, the coaches quickly realized he had a concussion because he didn’t sound right when he was talking to offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Rob Phenicie.

Roper says he’s feeling better, but is listed as questionable for Saturday’s game at Northern Arizona. Andrew Selle is expected to start.
